Program
The European Biochar & Bioenergy Congress (EBBC 2026) will feature a robust and forward-looking scientific program structured into parallel technical sessions across the three-day congress. The program brings together biochar scientists, bioenergy researchers, engineers, industry leaders, policymakers, and technology innovators to discuss breakthroughs in sustainable biomass utilization, bioenergy systems, carbon-negative technologies, and circular bioeconomy deployment.
EBBC 2026 will host high-quality plenary, keynote, invited, and technical lectures from international experts, covering the full biochar and bioenergy value chain—from feedstock selection and thermochemical/biochemical conversion to biochar characterization, soil and environmental applications, system integration, scale-up, and climate-impact verification aligned with net-zero and carbon-negative strategies.
Key components of the EBBC 2026 program include:
- Opening Plenary & Keynote Lectures by globally recognized leaders in biochar science, bioenergy systems, carbon sequestration, and sustainable innovation
- IAAM Fellow Assembly Sessions addressing strategic roadmaps, policy frameworks, international collaboration, and future directions for the carbon-negative bioeconomy
- Parallel Technical Sessions covering biomass conversion and process optimization; pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal carbonization, and digestion routes; biochar characterization and standards; soil, agriculture, and forestry applications; environmental remediation; and MRV (measurement, reporting, verification) for carbon permanence
- Industry & Innovation Sessions showcasing pilot projects, scale-up strategies, industrial deployment, market adoption, carbon markets, and commercialization pathways for biochar and bioenergy technologies
- Congress Concluding Session highlighting scientific outcomes, technology outlooks, policy insights, awards, and recognitions
The parallel session structure enables participants to engage with topics most relevant to their expertise while encouraging interdisciplinary exchange and impactful collaboration across academia, industry, and policy sectors.
Net Zero Congress Policy
AMC Assemblies is committed to implementing a Net Zero policy for the European Biochar & Bioenergy Congress. The environmental footprint of the event is assessed and managed in alignment with carbon reduction principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
While venue energy systems may rely partly on non-renewable sources, all other aspects of the congress—including accommodation, catering, transportation, and event operations—are planned according to minimum-impact standards, supporting emission reduction, waste minimization, and responsible resource use.
Through these climate-smart initiatives, EBBC 2026 aims to demonstrate leadership in sustainable event practices and invites all participants to actively contribute to a greener, carbon-negative future.
