Why we launched IAAM Week
For years IAAM ran its congresses and summits as separate events. Delegates kept telling us the same thing: the most useful conversation of the trip was with someone from a different field — and they had only met them by chance.
The fields have converged
New materials are now designed with AI. Medicine depends on new materials. Net zero needs all of them, plus the founders and investors who turn research into products. It no longer makes sense to discuss these questions in separate rooms, months apart.
One trip instead of six
Bringing the programmes into one week saves delegates time, money and travel. Universities can send one group instead of several, and companies can meet researchers from every field at a single expo.
Closer to members everywhere
IAAM has members in more than 150 countries. Holding IAAM Week in Europe, Asia-Pacific and America means more of them can take part without crossing the world to do so.
Built on IAAM’s experience
Since its first congress in 2011, IAAM has organised 100+ international conferences with 1,800+ sessions and symposia, welcoming 30,000+ delegates from about 125 countries and hosting 17,500+ lectures. Its Advanced Materials Congress alone has held 63 assemblies, with 13,000 young scientists and 15,000 women researchers from 4,800+ organisations. IAAM Week keeps what works — named chairs, Fellow lectures and the IAAM awards — and adds the structure that lets the six pillars work together.
