Net Zero Charter
Six pillars overview

Net Zero Charter

Talking about net zero is easy; committing to it is harder. Universities, institutes and companies sign the Net Zero Charter at IAAM Week and commit to measurable targets — and report back on them, year after year.

Where it began

IAAM adopted the Stockholm Net Zero Charter on 18 August 2025, at the 65th Advanced Materials Congress in Stockholm, and launched the Net Zero Technology Consortium the same day. Its 2030 goal: shared standards across 50+ countries and a 50% cut in emissions intensity compared with 2025.

What signatories commit to

Set targets in at least one area: hydrogen, decarbonisation, carbon capture or the circular economy

Report progress each year at IAAM Week

Share results and lessons with other signatories

Tracks

Six tracks of talks and discussions on the green transition run alongside the Charter:

Green Hydrogen & Power-to-X: electrolysers, hydrogen storage and turning clean power into fuels and chemicals

Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage: capturing CO₂ and turning it into useful products

Solar & Renewable Energy Materials: next-generation solar cells, storage and clean power systems

Circular Materials & Critical Metals: recycling, recovery of critical raw materials and closing the loop

Bio-based Materials & Waste to Value: biochar, bio-sourced nanomaterials and turning waste into products

Green Transition: Policy, Standards & Investment: measuring progress, shared standards and financing the move to net zero

How to sign

Tell us about your organisation and the targets you plan to set. The Charter team will contact you before the next IAAM Week.
